The table was built in 1934 for The Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY

During The Great Flood of 1937 The Brown Hotel stayed open, operating on candles and charcoal grills after the electricity fails. The water level on the first floor rises to three feet, and the bell captain catches a two-pound fish in the lobby.

Red Simonis 860 baize was used

The six legged cabinet is made from solid hardwood  2 ½ “ thick and weighs over 300 lbs.

Somewhere along the way the original 1 ¼” three piece slate became a “four piece slate”

 

 

 

 

Plenty of Durham’s was used in the repair

This table is owned by Ted Graugh of Atlanta, Ga.   It has been placed in the weekend home in Hiram, Ga.
